I hate Sundays in Blacksburg!

First of all, I couldn’t post any updates last week. I was stuck with seasonal allergies and was sick for 3 days. I’m much better now and ready for the two weeks of a wrap up before Thanksgiving and Finals. This weekend was a very disappointing one! Nothing happened, well everything wrong happened!

Friday, Nov. 6th

Well, Friday was my semi-recovery day. Besides classes, I went to my friend’s apartment and watched couple of movies. The first one was Jennifer’s Body, a supposed to be horror movie which turned out to be a waste of time. I mean, the movie was pretty ridiculous. The second movie that I watched was ZOMBIELAND! This movie turned out to be really funny and really entertaining. The Zombies were not scary at all. This is what I think of Zombieland, it’s just a comedy version of I am Legend.

Zombieland is worth the watch

Saturday, Nov.7th

I spent 6 hours on Saturday updating the Engineer’s Forum website. Well, basically the EF is a student run magazine at Virginia Tech. The website needed embedded and interactive PDFs, a File Upload system for non-authenticated users, a change in the appearance of the published issues page and that’s what my Saturday looked like.

Sunday, Nov.8th

Sundays are definitely the worst days to spend in Blacksburg. The entire day is boring, dull and pointless. Well, for most of the time I got some homework done, but otherwise the thing that killed my day was the Man Utd – Chelsea game. The game was dominated by the Red Devils, but Chelsea were lucky enough to get a close range free kick and lucky enough to have John Terry head it in. This result is definitely a big blow in our title chance this year. But I can guarantee you that Manchester United will not win the Premiership this season. Why you ask? Here’s why:

Manchester United have never won a Premiership title during a World Cup year since 93-94 season.
Take the 97-98 season, Arsenal won it then. Take the 01-02 season, Arsenal won it then. Take the 05-06 season, Chelsea won it.
I can put my life savings on Arsenal this season, they will definitely win this season’s title. So I can guarantee that the top 3 will be as follows, 1) Arsenal, 2) Chelsea & 3) Manchester United.

This was my Sunday. I really hate Sundays in Blacksburg.

Can Arsenal win the title after 6 years?

Dirty Jobs – not as dirty after all

A lot of you must have heard of the TV show Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe on Discovery Channel, some of you must have even watched it. The show deals with some of the most extreme jobs done in USA. Ever imagined yourself as a Roadkill cleaner or an Owl Vomit Collector or even a Sewer Inspector?

After watching about some ten episodes of Dirty Jobs, I really learned a lot from the show rather than expressing disgust. The show in my opinion, is a very informative and an educational show. I take this show this pretty seriously.

Mike Rowe does a fantastic job as the host. He adds comedy to a show like Dirty Jobs. It’s quite important for people to realize that there are some ugly elements of our day to day life, so someone has to clean it up or use the ugly elements to create something new.

Hey, if I didn’t watch Dirty Jobs, I probably wouldn’t know what happens to the food leftover on my plates when I go to a restaurant! Well, it goes to the pigs!

Can’t read my poker face!

If you haven’t watched the latest South Park episode yet, watch it! This episode is pretty hilarious!
Basically, this episode makes fun of the Japanese and the TV show Whale Wars. The episode is about how the Japanese kill dolphins and whales all over the US. So, Stan decides to step up and hunt the Japanese down. He does this by joining the crew of Whale Wars. He takes down the Japanese only to realise that the Japanese are after dolphins and whales because the Japanese think dolphins and whales released the nuclear bomb on Hiroshima. So Stan and Co. photoshop the picture that shows who released the bomb. They replace the dolphin and the whale with a cow and a chicken. In the end, the Japanese starting killing cows and chickens all over the country!

What got me laughing!

“F*** you Dolphin and F*** you Whale”

Everytime the Japanese killed dolphins and whales, they shout this out in. The funny thing about it is the way the pronounce dolphin and whale. It’s like “F*** dorrphin, F*** you wharre”.

Can’t Read My Poker Face!!

Eric Cartman sang Lady Gaga’s Poker Face – the entire song – in this episode. It makes me wonder sometimes, he sings better than the original artist.

That about sums up my review of this episode of South Park!

Prank Calling for Dummies!

Pranks are something natural to me. I’ve been making prank calls since I was 10 years old. I rarely do it now, may be only to my closest friends and no one else. There are too many stories to write down, but here are some of the best ways to prank call a person:

1) Call two people, put one on hold and talk to the other one and connect this other guy with the person you’re talking to.

2) Always prank call Asian people, they get pissed off and it’s tons of fun.

3) Use Soundboards if you think the other person can recognize your voice.

4) If possible, introduce yourself as a salesman and sell/promote something. Who knows you could even make some money!

Back pain & more back pain

This past Saturday couldn’t have been any better. The Cricket Club @ Virginia Tech decided to play some tapeball cricket at the Cricket grounds (with floodlights). 4hrs of playing cricket was a ton of fun. I have to admit, I got my bowling rhythm back. I picked up an average of 3 wickets every game. Well, I did get horrific at the end, I let a good friend of mine hit me for 15 in 3 balls, before getting him out. But 4hrs of cricket after 4 months without playing cricket, killed me. On Sunday morning, I woke up with a bad back which still continues to torment me.

Sunday could have been one of the worst days I’ve ever experienced at VT. It started with the United game against Liverpool. Liverpool were just too good on the day, they beat ManUtd 2-0. I was disappointed at how horrible United played. But the question is are United really missing Cristiano Ronaldo? I think United have lost some aggression. Berbatov and Nani really need to step up and turn their game on.

Well, I’ve been working on my E-Portfolio and I think it’s coming out pretty good. Here’s what it looks like as of now.
